Self-defence, Fitness & Confidence
We understand how crucial it is to have a secure foundation for your teens during their years of self-discovery. Martial Journey provides a safe environment where they may challenge themselves and discover their vast potential.
Our teen students rise to the expectations of our Senior Syllabus and train with adults as they have the maturity, compatible size and motor skills. Practising with people of varying size is an invaluable advantage in self-defence training.
Our syllabus focuses on:
Confidence & Self-improvement

Motivation: We encourage our students by challenging them to give their best effort everyday, especially when it is toughest.

Confidence Building: We create a safe environment for students to test their limitations and reach beyond their limiting beliefs.

Leadership Skills: Developing self-confidence through achievements and positive reinforcement.

Lifelong learning: Cultivating a love of learning and self-improvement.
Self-Defence Martial Arts

Falling and Recovery: Students learn how to fall correctly minimizing injury and how to roll which can be the quickest way to get back up.

Blocking: Techniques to block potential threats.

Evasion: Skills to move out of harm's way effectively.

Using their Voice: Finding the confidence to ask for help.

Striking: Fundamental striking techniques to build coordination and balance.

Ground Defence: Protective strategies when on the ground, are taught at Intermediate levels.

Locks, Holds, and Grabs: Technical locks, holds, and take-downs are introduced in the Advanced levels. Students learn how to apply as well as how to escape from them.

Throws, Grappling, Chokes: Close contact attacks and defence. Trust is established before placing students in vulnerable situations.

Pressure Points: An ancient science relying on accuracy over strength. This is taught at Black Belt levels.

Weapons Training: The inclusion of weapon knowledge completes our extensive syllabus which aim to develop well-rounded martial artists.
Zoom Classes
Online classes are available to all our students for revision outside their regular training sessions, with no additional costs.
Safety Week
Safety Weeks are dedicated to teaching strategies for uncomfortable or potentially dangerous situations.
Grading and Progression
We offer 3 Belt Grading opportunities each year. Students are scheduled to grade based on individual readiness.
Leadership Training
Our Sun Team program trains future leaders for our dojo and beyond. It is a select entry program. Applications accepted from Snr Red Belts & above.
