Weapons
Jnr Green belt OR Snr Yellow Belt & above
Defence, Co-ordination,
Resourcefulness
Becoming one with your weapon takes time and commitment. The longer the weapon, the more control is required. Each weapon carries its own weight, balance, and rhythm. When it becomes an extension of you, movement becomes instinctual, flawless, and fluid.
At Martial Journey, weapons training priortizes practical self-defence. Our syllabus focuses on:
Hanbo, Bo, Knife
These weapons were carefully selected for their practicality and relevance in our society.
Hanbo: Short basic staff - a versatile weapon to build foundation skills upon.
Bo: Long staff - sharpens control, spatial awareness, and co-ordination.
Knife: With knife-related crime on the rise, understanding this weapon is increasingly important.
Blocks, Strikes, and Movements make up the core of what we learn. Students are required to be proficient with all three weapons.
Sword
Bokken: Japanese wooden sword, is taught at Level 3, when Weapons Training becomes more an artform.
Katas, Armed and Unarmed defence, are also taught at this level.
Random weapons
We train with everyday objects that can act as improvised weapons, developing familiarity and resourcefulness.
Hanbo: Bat / Club / Racket, Umbrella
Bo: Broom, Rake, Pole
Knife: Pen, Key, Fork
